About

I have always been interested in professional development and one of my colleagues (and friend) recently suggested a blog would be a great way to expand it to new horizons. His blog has become quite successful over the years and told me that one of his previous colleagues had given him the idea too. Having thought about it for a while here I am with talkTEFL.

A bit about myself: I have been a TEFL teacher for almost 6 years now. I have worked as a teacher in Spain, China and I currently work in Thailand where my weeks consist mainly of teaching young learners but also about 30% adult classes too, so don’t be surprised if most of the posts you come across here are YL related.

I started my career by doing my Cambridge CELTA in 2010 after I finished my degree in Portugal. Over the years I sat most of the TKT exams and successfully completed the YL extension to the CELTA at the beginning of 2016 (which will soon be discontinued). I also recently completed my Cambridge DELTA course with a specialism in teaching young learners. This blog has the intention to help share ideas, write about TEFL related topics/issues and collaborate with other TEFL teachers around the world.

Feel free to contact me at any time if you would like to collaborate with me and leave your ideas in the comments, I’d love to hear from other developing teachers.
